The premise of the eBook “Blockchains in the Mainstream” was about the question of: when and how will this tech become commonplace?
Or, perhaps a better way of saying it is, when will “blockchain” achieve common, vernacular understanding the way “Internet” or “social media” does?
You don’t have to understand how it works, but knowing it’s out there is that I’m talking about.
Looking back at just a few recent announcements makes me wonder if we are closer than I originally realized.
- The DTCC plans to use blockchain to settle its $11 trillion in derivatives trades.
- Homeland Security is looking at it to track goods and people across borders
- The FDA is looking at blockchain to help with population health management
And this is just a few of them. I seem to see more every day and thanks to great readers, I get a number sent to me (keep them coming).
Originally, I was thinking this was at least 2 years out (and it may be), but I’m excited to see the momentum growing.
