I’m often asked for book recommendation on “understanding Web 2.0” or “the social web.”

If that’s you, stop what you are doing and buy Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations

It is BY FAR the best book I have read on the massive changes that are underway in terms of new social software tools and the low-cost of organizing and self-publishing.

The author is Clay Shirky. I am a huge fan (see his presentation here…after you buy the book) and I think he does a better job than anyone of helping you get ready for how our world is going to change due to social software.

If I had to prep a reading list of the two MUST-reads of the Internet era, it would beClay Shirky

  1. The Cluetrain Manifesto: The End of Business as Usual  as the foundational layer (Web 1.0)
  2. Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations as the build on that. (Web 2.0)

It’s that good.

Buy it. Read it. Then post a comment here.
